A Woolly Evening Pocket
I trotted in from the cool patio shadows, heading straight across the hallway runner to the bottom shelf of the wooden coat bench. Resting on the smooth oak plank was a thick, folded woolen scarf with fringed edges and a smooth wooden toggle button on a looped cord! I leaned in close, inspecting the polished wood with my shiny red nose. With both plush hands, I gave the toggle a firm nudge forward. Clack! It slid right beneath the heavy fringe, propping the wool into a soft, slanting roof over the timber floor. Tucking my round tummy deep into the warm, woolly hollow, I let out a drowsy, contented hum.
