Taming the Stray Cable

Spotting the thick braided cord of the electric kettle creeping toward the damp rim of the sink, I sprang forward before gravity could finish the job! I sprinted across the speckled quartz, threw my hands around the heavy black wire, and dug my boots firmly into the counter. Resting right beside the kettle base was a bright yellow silicone cable strap. With a brisk tilt of my head, I whipped the stretchy band around the thick cord, hooked the notched tab through the locking loop, and hauled with all my weight. Snap! The band gripped tight, anchoring the heavy cord safely clear of the wet zone. Grid secured!
