A Soft Beginning
The room was completely still. I waited, listening closely to the quiet afternoon before I tried to move. Slowly, gently, I lifted my chin from where it had been resting. It felt light and warm. Beside me sat a small white bottle; I reached out a single paw and softly nudged its side. It made a faint, comforting plastic click against the tabletop. I settled back into place, listening to the calm air and knowing I was finally awake.
