A Soft Fold
I pushed gently against the thick knit blanket pooled near the edge of the bed. It gave way, soft and yielding, forming a small hollow just right for leaning. The lamp on the bedside table cast a warm, round circle of light across the weave. I climbed in, one slow step at a time, until my back rested squarely against the pillow's edge. From here, the quiet room stretched out still and shadowy. I settled my paws over my belly and listened to the soft hum of the evening, perfectly warm.
