Tension on Canvas
Found a heavy canvas sneaker resting by the door. Thick woven seam. Perfect bite. I opened wide and locked my blue jaw onto the canvas tongue. Snap. Firm anchor. My white cord stretched taut as the green foot braced against the ribbed rubber sole below. Up close, the tread was full of deep ridges and dried grit. Solid tension. Zero slip. I held steady right there, letting the pull balance out.
