Sliding Down the Iron Bars
The morning sun warmed the apartment threshold, but staying inside felt far too familiar. I slipped out past the balcony screen door and climbed onto the cold, polished metal rail. The vertical black iron balusters formed an orderly row of smooth corridors. Leaning my chin forward, I let my ridged body glide straight down the slippery vertical pole, spiraling softly around it until I reached the cool bottom rung. Looking down toward the street of Vaalbera, the breeze ruffled over my back, making me want to venture beyond this perch soon.
