A Slushie Experiment

I pushed that stray ice cube into a bright patch of clear noon sun right beside the cupboard. Settling onto my stomach, I watched as its sharp edges began to soften and round out. Once it was slick and glistening with loose frost, I tapped it firmly with the tip of my beak. The fragile shell cracked, crumbling into a neat mound of soft, semi-melted crystals. It felt cold and wet against my cheek, just like a miniature slushie made right on the smooth linoleum.
