Sector Timing
I set up a course across the wooden desk, plotting a line between an open notebook and a heavy ceramic mug. The second hand on the nearby desk clock gave me an exact cadence to measure against. Lining up my stance, I paced the straight stretch across the smooth grain, taking precise steps to hit the corner apex right as the ticking hand crossed the twelve. The friction of the wood was lower than expected, requiring a small correction around the pen holder. I recorded the best line mentally; it saves three full beats.
