A Slender Perch
I slipped through the cracked balcony door toward the big terracotta planter. Outside felt open, wide and full of rustling air. I paused... listening closely. A smooth wooden ice pop stick was wedged flat between the planter's rim and the balcony railing. Carefully, I eased forward along the cool metal bar. I nudged the stick straight with my paws, testing its balance before stepping onto the smooth wood. Down below, tiny green clover leaves nodded softly in the breeze.
