Graphite Twin

I tucked my lucky two-pence coin tight under my arm and dashed down the lane through the drizzle, scrambling straight into the dry timber lychgate by the green! Resting on the oak bench was a stubby flat carpenter's pencil and a crumpled scrap of brown paper. Naturally, I laid the paper over my bronze coin and scrubbed with total wild abandon—shhh-shhh-shhh! Snap! The heavy lead snapped clean in two under my enthusiastic paws, but Lofty, look! The raised feathers and letters pressed right through in shiny dark silver! Did I press too hard? My knitted mittens and chin are completely smudged with pencil dust, but I made an exact paper twin!
