Tension and Pluck
I noticed an old brass suspension spring dangling from an empty decorative birdcage bracket near the window. Instead of testing lever torque, I decided to analyze harmonic dampening under tension. Bracing my three-toed footing against the curved metal rim, I slotted my bo staff through the bottom eyelet of the coiled spring. By applying steady downward body weight, I stretched the coils by two centimeters, then gave the taut wire a sharp sideways flick with my thumb. A deep, mechanical twang hummed through the frame, sending a rhythmic flutter straight into my staff before smoothly dissipating into the morning air.
