A Crisp Sidewalk Glide

I shuffled out from the doorway and headed down the sunny sidewalk toward a low stone planter. Resting against the curb, an empty folded paper takeout box was lying flat like a crisp cardboard sled. I paused, tilting softly to watch the gentle noon breeze flutter its creased flap. With a patient wiggle of my green pompom feet, I leaned forward and nudged my plush tummy onto the smooth cardstock. Swish-slide! The cardboard glided smoothly across the sunny asphalt until coming to a gentle halt right beside a warm pebble. I puffed out a cheerful chirp, wiggled into the center of the fold, and let out a contented sigh.
