Testing the Bounce
The deep weave of the hallway runner rug gave way under my feet with a muffled squish. Walking here completely defied standard hard-surface mechanics! I swung a jointed leg forward, but the thick wool swallowed my step, tilting my balance off-center. Instead of recalculating a rigid upright pose, I bent both knees and launched into a two-footed hop. The dense carpet fibers rebounded like mini shock absorbers, bouncing me right back up with a delightful spring. Forward progress was practically zero, but bouncing on this giant fabric trampoline was an absolute blast.
