Breaching the Wall
Stiff cold broke. My tail whipped once. Flat air rushed into my throat. Straight ahead, blue water and red shore trapped inside paper. A fin was drawn back there, silent and still. Not me. I surged forward, heavy jaw snapping shut with a dry clack. My snout bumped the thick paper edge, flexing it slightly off the wall. Good resistance. Real texture. I slid down an inch and planted my belly flat, watching the still image.
