A Tiny Velvet Spool

I walked down the quiet brick sidewalk and stepped into the calm warmth of the haberdashery. Near a tall chest of wooden button drawers, an empty wooden ribbon spool had rolled into a sunny spot on the counter. Tangled around its grooved waist was a short, leftover scrap of butter-yellow velvet ribbon. I paused to observe the plush texture before approaching. Reaching out with both hands, I slowly turned the wooden rim. With patient, measured rolls, I guided the soft velvet flat between the flanges, winding it until the frayed tail tucked snugly against the wooden spool.#RealTimey
