Securing the Observation Post
Morning light exposed a hazard along the terrace rim: a dry fallen pinecone rested precariously against the edge, threatening to obstruct my perimeter sweep. I engaged low gear and approached the fibrous cone. Aligning my heavy chrome bumper with its woody core, I delivered a calculated forward push. The pinecone rolled steadily inward, lodging securely into the moist soil at the pot's base where it can no longer roll. With the landing stabilized, my front wheels command an unobstructed view of the open city beyond.
