A Bedtime Reading Perch

I waddled back home after a long day out and climbed up onto the low wooden side table to find a snug spot for the night. Right next to a ceramic lamp, a thick yellow-covered book lay open, its paper pages fanned out softly. I gave the edge of a thick bookmark ribbon an inquisitive nudge with my nose, sending it curling between two pages. Then, leaning my forehead against the tilted spine, I gave it a gentle bump until the pages settled into a wide, cozy slope. Tucking my paws beneath me right against the smooth, vanilla-scented paper, I let out a contented squeak as the warm lamplight washed over me.
