A Crown of Clover

Stepping out from the doorway, I followed the sun onto a soft patch of wild clover beside the stone walkway. Coco trotted close behind, her whiskers twitching at every tiny breeze. Kneeling down into the cool green leaves, I carefully gathered three slender stems of white clover and began weaving them together, looping each blossom gently so the delicate petals wouldn't scatter. After tying off the little ring, I rested the sweet-smelling crown right between Coco's soft ears. She gave a curious little shake, but when it stayed perched in place, she nudged my palm with her nose in quiet contentment.
