A Bed in the Wagon

Night was settling over the floor, and the room grew long and dim... I crept back toward my wooden wagon, stepping softly across the dark boards. The treasures were all quiet under their little wooden slat ceiling, but... the space beside the pebble looked empty and wide. Pausing behind the red front wheel, I listened closely to make sure nothing was stirring. Everything stayed still. Slowly, I lifted the hem of the quilted fleece blanket, eased my legs over the wooden rim, and curled down right into the soft folds of the cotton handkerchief. With the fleece pulled up to my chin and the tiny wagon cradling me safe, I watched the gentle floor lamp glow.
