A Soft Discovery

I carefully waddled up beside the woven basket on the low table, taking tiny steps so I wouldn't disturb the quiet evening. Resting near the edge was a smooth, pastel squishy shaped like a small star. I reached forward gently with my wingtip and pressed down on it. It yielded with the softest, slowest squeeze before gradually rising back into shape, perfectly calm and steady. It felt so soothing in the gentle lamplight that I decided to sit down right next to it to keep it company.
