A Cozy Satin Canopy
I slipped back inside from the conservatory on quiet feet, eager for the soothing stillness of the parlor. Up on the sofa, a woven wicker sewing basket sat half-open, with a spool of delicate pink satin ribbon unspooled across a velvet throw pillow. The tangled spill looked far too restless for bedtime. Using both plush paws, I gently wound the loose satin around two upright wooden knitting needles propped against the basket rim, weaving an airy, arched canopy. After smoothing a folded square of quilted calico underneath, I tucked my feet into the rosy shadow, completely at ease.
