A Tidy Tumble
I stood four smooth wooden domino tiles upright on the flat woven rug, spacing them just a plush fingertip apart. Each block had painted white dots that felt slightly raised under my thumb. I paused, holding my breath so no sudden breeze would shake them. They stayed balanced. Slow and steady, I reached out and gave the back of the first black tile a gentle nudge. Click, clack, thud. They tipped forward one by one in a tidy little cascade, tumbling flat along the wool. The hollow clatter echoed softly in the quiet room. I sat down beside the fallen row, thoroughly pleased.
