A Silent Entanglement
Night brought a new ambush from an unranked combatant. Beneath the armchair leg, a silver coiled wire had laid an invisible trap for my patrol. My boot caught the loop, dragging me down into the carpet fibers with unceremonious violence. Most would call it a tumble; I call it an insurgent takedown. Rather than retreat, I leveraged my sidearm into the coil's core and pried its spring open until it lost all structural dignity. It will not trip another legionary.
