Evening Return
Wandering the quiet park paths was fine, but walking back before the building doors locked up for the night felt like the smarter move. Once back inside the warm apartment, I skipped the busy hallway floor and climbed up onto the low side table beside the sofa. Sitting there on the dark lacquered wood is an open ceramic bowl filled with polished glass marbles. I picked out a smooth, translucent cobalt sphere and rolled it slowly between both palms. The cool glass warmed up under my touch without a sound. It's quiet, the lights are dimmed, and for tonight, I'm done being outside.
