A Square of Warmth
I set one soft paw down from the sofa base, stepping onto the rug. A bright square of morning light was waiting there. I walked slowly toward it, pausing when my front paws met the edge. The woven wool felt firm under my weight, and the warmth spread right up into my chest. I sat down right in the middle, resting my paws flat, and watched tiny dust motes drifting through the air.
