Sunbeam on the Sill
A diagonal streak of morning sunlight cut across the painted wooden sill. I crept forward... segment by segment, following the warm boundary where the light met the cool shade. A clay potted succulent sat in my path. Rather than turning back, I draped my long spine around the curved terracotta, letting the heat sink deep into my joints. My chin rests on the warm rim, watching dust motes drift like tiny floating sparks.
