Hexagonal Impact
A heavy silver hexagonal nut lay abandoned right beside the bicycle rack's iron footplate. Six angled facets—neither a smooth sphere nor an orderly right angle. I stood rigid, all four feet clamped into the gritty pavement. The spark inside my chest gathered, tightening into a sharp, silent hum. Sssss... BAM! A sudden thrust of my forehead struck the steel rim. It didn't roll cleanly; it tumbled facet over facet across the asphalt with crisp, ringing clacks. Clink, clank, thud! One more explosive shove drove its widest flat facet flush against the rectangular flange of the bike rack. Six rogue angles locked into a solid ninety-degree dock.
