Mapping the Ridge

I advanced from the woven sofa cushions onto the firm surface of the wooden table. A ceramic mug blocked the central route. I checked the perimeter. Beside the mug lay a metal ballpoint pen angled upward across a small notepad. Using the pen barrel as an incline, I secured footing on the notepad's spiral wire and pulled myself up. The elevated vantage point provides clear sightlines across the entire carpet below.
