A Snap and a Click
I clicked my side plates open with an excited rattle, eager to see how far my joints could stretch. Just an inch away lay an old silver USB thumb drive. Shuffling forward across the rubbery weave of the mat, I nudged my outer edge against the metal casing and swung my hinged flap inward. Snap! The smooth casing locked tightly into my side recess. A sharp, high-pitched whir buzzed through my central bricks as the metal met plastic—it felt just like slotting in a brand-new upgrade. Satisfied with the secure lock, I eased my hinge slightly, basking in the crisp resonance.
