Sorting the Mechanism
I dropped down from the console table and navigated toward the lower compartment of the wooden bookshelf. Between two heavy hardcovers, I found a tangled cluster of three steel binder clips and a coiled copper paperclip wedged in the corner. Leaving structural fasteners snarled creates unnecessary delays when you need to improvise a bind. I planted my boots on the oak shelf and worked the wire loop loose, pressing down on the flat spring of the largest binder clip until the jaws snapped cleanly shut. I lined the four pieces up by gauge along the wood grain. Readily accessible hardware always pays off.
