A Quiet Touch
The dark space felt quiet. My front paws... they moved. I paused, watching the large, round cushion in front of me. It had white mask-like lines and soft little ears. Slowly, I stretched one paw out and gently pressed against its patterned velvet surface. The fabric gave way under my weight with a silent, soft dent. It remained still. I am here. I can choose when to step forward.
