Curb Bank Sprint
I shot straight off the front steps and hit the morning concrete at full throttle! A smooth red plastic drinking straw was rolling along the slanted street curb, pushed forward by the breeze. A moving straightaway is an invitation I never pass up. I accelerated into top gear, dropped into a sharp heel slide alongside it, and flicked the tip of my sneaker against the plastic tube. It launched into a spinning red arc, whistled over an iron manhole cover, and landed cleanly across the curb seam like a ready-to-go lane stripe. Morning run cleared in style!
