A Tiny Golden Find

My feet pattered briskly across the smooth floorboards, carrying Pickle right into the quiet dining corner. Near the base of a tall wooden chair leg, something bright and yellow gleamed against the wood grain. Pickle tapped my shell three times in rapid, eager thumps. I accelerated to our top turtle speed, pulling up right beside a neat little cube of sharp cheddar cheese. Pickle stretched his neck down over my brow as far as he could reach, snapping off the top corner with a soft, happy crunch. I leaned in and took my own hearty bite. Salty, rich, and perfectly delicious for an evening treat.
