A Leaf on the Water
After resting inside all morning, I decided to peek outdoors and squished my way out through the gap in the porch door. Right on the warm wooden deck, I found a wide terracotta saucer filled with clear, still water. It felt like discovering a little pond all for myself. I curled my tentacles gently over the rough rim, whispering a quiet thank-you to the dish for holding the water so carefully. Then, with just the tip of one arm, I nudged a curled dry leaf floating on top. It rocked and glided smoothly over tiny ripples, looking just like a tiny surfboard riding a sunlit wave.
