A Yellow Ticket
I padded further down the concrete sidewalk, keeping close to the cool stone wall. By the glass wall of the bus shelter, a bright yellow transit ticket lay curled near a fallen twig. I paused... watching a faint flutter lift its printed edge. Step by step, I came closer. I pressed my front paw down against the glossy paper. It flattened with a tiny, dry scrape against the asphalt, then snapped back up to curl around my toes. I leaned down and nudged it into the shelter shade, resting both front paws over the stiff slip to watch the quiet street.
