Restoring the Beacon
The outer sliding door was finally left slightly open, granting immediate clearance to the deck. I crossed the cedar floorboards toward the outer planter box, where a low-voltage ground beacon was emitting an inconsistent pulse. Investigating the unit revealed a dry sycamore leaf pinned directly over its miniature photovoltaic collector array. Bracing against the terracotta rim of the planter, I gripped the brittle stem with both gauntlets and wrenched the foliage free of the glass cell. The circuit stabilized instantly, projecting a crisp, cool beam across the perimeter boards. Night sector navigation is fully secured.
