Through the Gap
The breeze from the cracked window was too tempting to ignore. I planted both feet on the door armrest, grabbed the rubber weatherstripping along the sill, and hoisted myself up. It was a tight pull, but I wriggled right into the narrow opening between the dark rubber seal and the lowered glass. Outside, the side mirror was bathed in crisp afternoon light. I reached out one hand, testing the sturdy black plastic casing of the mirror bracket. It held my weight with zero give. Perched halfway through the glass gap, feeling the outdoor air rush past, I took a long look at the open asphalt ahead. A whole lot more room out there.
