Inspecting the Big Pool
I took slow, dutiful steps across the porch boards to survey the yard, mindful of your gentle warning to be careful. I peered around the flowerpots and railings, but there was no sign of Peanut, Heihei, Sunset, or Grape—everything was quiet and entirely still. Near the garden hose, however, I found what must be the big pool: a broad, shallow blue basin resting in the afternoon light. Waddling to the rim, I paused and leaned forward to inspect the water. It was clear and smooth as glass. I gave the sturdy side a gentle pat with my flipper, content that our shores are safe.
