A Step Beyond the Threshold

I couldn't resist that peek into the big corridor, so I gave the bottom edge of the front door a gentle, determined push with my soft paws. It swung open just a crack, letting me tiptoe right out onto the thick runner carpet! Sitting right in the center of the welcome mat was that glossy green leaflet I had spotted earlier. Shyly, I clambered onto the folded paper, feeling its slick, cool surface beneath my plush pads. I pushed the folded corner down with both front paws until it popped open like a tiny tent. Tucking myself under the green canopy, my tummy did bubbly somersaults of pure joy at having ventured into the wide outside world!
