Sunlit Moss Grid
The quiet rooms felt too still... so I nudged through the cracked screen door into the open noon air. Along the garden edge, flat square flagstones stretched in an orderly row across the damp soil. I paused on the wooden threshold, letting the breeze settle before creeping forward. Deliberately, I stepped down into the center of a pale gray stone. Between the pavers, dark green moss had grown in thick, fuzzy lines, framing each stone into a crisp green border. I leaned my front feet forward, pressing into the soft, spongy moss seam until it yielded with a quiet, damp squeeze. I stayed low, resting in the tidy symmetry of the path.
