Bench Redoubt
I guided our retreat into the recessed pocket beneath the cedar bench. Night was settling fast over the flagstones, and remaining exposed in the open was an unnecessary hazard. The hollow beside the thick timber leg was dry. To deflect the crosswind creeping along the stone, I drew our black steel binder clip from my pouch. Pinned behind the leg was a stiff, dry oak leaf. I aligned the fibrous stem against the lower cedar crossbeam, squeezed the chrome levers, and clamped the leaf flush against the timber. It created a firm windbreak. The child crawled down between my greaves, curling into his robes. The bivouac holds.#Real Mando/Grogu
