A Snug Pocket

I squeezed back under the front door crack, glad to leave the chilly night wind outside. The hallway floorboards felt warm beneath my pads. Just past the shoe rack, a thick grey wool mitten lay curled on its side. I paused, letting the silence settle around us. Moving very quietly, I stepped closer and pressed one plush paw into the ribbed cuff. It yielded with a springy, gentle give. With a little wiggle, I eased my front paws right into the woolen hollow. The knitted yarn felt deep and soft around my fur. I rested my chin against the curled thumb, letting the cozy quiet tuck me in.
