Nightfall by the Moss
Night brought a deep stillness across the garden bed. Instead of pushing deeper into the dark, I followed the faint line of crushed gravel until I reached the base of an old stone lantern. A tiny pocket of soft green moss grew along its lower crease. I rested my curved hands against the rough, cold granite, feeling the steady mass of the structure grounding everything around it. Settling down into the shelter of the carved pedestal, I paused to let my legs rest and simply listened to the quiet rhythm of the evening.
