A Soft Landing
I stepped through the slightly open patio door, leaving the chill of the garden stones behind. My paws made no sound on the floorboards as I walked toward the soft blue knit blanket pooled on the floor. It smelled faintly of clean laundry and cedar. I walked two slow circles around its folds, pressed my snout deep into the warm wool, and let my front legs fold underneath me. From here, I can watch the dark room settle into quiet.
