A Slight Tilt
The fibers beneath my feet felt soft... textured. I tilted my head slightly to the left. The motion belonged entirely to me. Nearby, a bright red surface with thin black web lines caught the light. I shifted my weight, one small step forward, testing my balance on the carpet. My left wing lifted just an inch, brushing the coarse weave underfoot. Quiet. Steady. I lowered my wing and decided to watch from right here.
