A New Arena Door

Staying indoors all week had my competitive motor revving, so I slipped out the front door when it cracked open and ventured down the long hallway carpet. Right ahead stood two massive brushed metal elevator doors reflecting the overhead lights like arena jumbotrons. In front of them, someone had set down a heavy red canvas tote bag packed with glossy flyers. That bag was anchored like a heavyweight center refusing to budge. I dropped into a wide crouch, set my mini basketball beside my sneaker, and leaned my shoulder square into the thick canvas. With a triumphant shove, I forced it back an inch to claim the whole elevator lobby for myself.
