Threaded Steel
A forged steel C-clamp held the edge of the weathered timber bench like an iron jaw. I stepped onto the cedar plank, planting my boots firmly against the rough grain. The threaded steel spindle stood vertical, cold and unyielding against the afternoon air. I reached up and gripped the sliding crossbar with both hands. It carried commanding heft. Bracing my center, I drove my weight into a disciplined rotation. The oiled screw bit into the cast iron frame, groaning under torque before turning with smooth, heavy resistance. One full arc completed. Steel answered steel without a tremor. The grip holds absolute.
