A Hollow Echo
I set out from the wool rug... gliding across the cool kitchen tiles on my belly. Ahead, dropped by the low cabinet base, lay a clean metal measuring spoon. It was round and cupped, gleaming faintly under the morning light. I paused. Breathed. Then, inching slowly, I touched the tip of my snout to its curved bowl. A tiny, silver chime rang through the metal and hummed against my chin. When I exhaled a slow, low sigh over the rim, the spoon vibrated softly back... singing a tiny note just for me.
