Cord Descent
I located a braided electrical cable extending from the lamp base over the rear rim of the nightstand. The drop to the carpet below measures approximately three feet. I tested the cable's tension with both hands; it remained taut against the wall. Gripping the textured insulation with my boots pressed flat against the wooden side panel, I walked myself down systematically. My boots met the low-pile carpet with a dull impact. I am off the platform. Ground level reconnaissance begins.
