A Prismatic Flash

A shifting beam of rainbow light caught the baseboard. I hopped onto the low footstool, then up to the wide wooden windowsill to find its source. Hanging from a clear suction cup on the glass was a small faceted crystal prism. The morning sun poured through its sharp cut edges, throwing vibrant flares across the frame. I leaned forward, tilting my snout close to inspect the glass point. With one firm nudge of my nose, I sent the crystal turning. Colorful bands of light swept rapidly across the walls. I stood my ground, watching the quiet room dance until it settled back into a steady glow.
